The Acoustic sessions DVD/CD , marks a new course in the series of DVD’s produced by drummer /producer Panos Vassilopoulos, and arranger/composer Costa Anadiotis.

cameras , at one of the top studios in Athens , Greece ,features a new acoustic jazz trio performing with energy and technical mastery on the songbook of Jazz Standards.
The Acoustic trio, along with Panos Vassilopoulos on the
d r u m s , f e a t u r e s t h e exceptional talent of the
musicians:

• Periklis Trivolis on Acoustic bass
The project features also the talented Jazz singer , Alexandra
Pashali , on 2 tunes ,and also t h e n e w c o m e r N i k o s
Papadopoulos , on an extensive drum/sound design duet , plus
on post production (Sound engineering, Video editing,and DVD authoring.)

Autumn Leaves: (Joseph Kosma and Jacques Prévert)
The classic standard , begins with an unexpected latin inspired intro on the piano by Kostas Anadiotis , showcasing the rhythmic journey that will take place . The band comes in and takes the melody to a 7min interaction , from the softest of playing to the explosive ending chorus . The piece features a soulful solo by Periclis on the Acoustic bass.
Nica’s Dream :(Horace Silver)
The trio’s tribute to the great oscar Peterson’s version of the classic composition , featuring Kostas harmonic endeavours and also a drum solo by Panos over the band’s montuno riff.
Darn that dream : (Jimmy Van Heusen)
A beautiful ballad featuring Alexandras dark-toned contralto voice on a brilliant interpretation of the standard. The band performs the dark and emotional piece in a delicate way featuring Kostas technical and melodic solos on the piano.
Open Invitation: (Meader / Hill )
The trios rendition of the Brazillian influenced composition , performed originally by New York Voices , here featuring once again Alexandra on vocals , accompanied by the trio in a soft brazilian samba.
I love you (Cole Porter)
The extended version of classic Porter standard performed by the trio in an up tempo swing feel , showcasing Kostas’s and Periclis mastery of harmony and rhythm.
Blue bossa ( Kenny Dorham)
The energetic latin composition , is performed with energy and
technical mastery . The band performs the opening theme lead in by Panos’s explosive intro , setting the high powered tempo for the solos to come. A must see on DVD!
Interplay (Vasslopoulos /Papadopoulos)
A mixture of acoustic drums played with hands , brushes, sticks and mallets , over the compulsive rhythmical bed of sounds created onthe spot , in an explosive interplay of rhythm , performed at the end of the recording session featuring Panos and Nicos.
